We have meticulously scoured multiple sources to compile a complete list of GPS coordinates for every single postcode in Australia. This includes island territories and special PO box codes outside the normal ranges. We also implement advanced formulas to detect errors or mistakes within our sources.
All 3,211 postcodes included!
Purchasing this list provides you with a download link to access the data immediately. We've tried to cover all the usual data formats to make it as easy as possible for you to plug it into your website, database or application.
All the formats are included in a single ZIP file. Let us know if you require a format which is not listed here and we'll see if we can help.

Using this data, you are able to calculate the distance between any two postcodes in Australia. This requires the use of geodesic functions. Here are a few links to get you started:
We will attempt to provide some additional coding examples here soon.
This data file (version 2.0) was released in February 2011, with all the latest updates and new postcodes from Australia Post.
As we try to keep our data as inexpensive as possible, we do not currently offer a discount for updates.

Need to quickly and easily calculate the distance between two postcodes in Australia? Or perhaps find all the postcodes within 50km of your base? Need to help your customers find their nearest store? Or need a way of estimating postage or courier costs?
We have produced a comprehensive list of the distances between each and every Australian postcode. This is over 10 million combinations! We've used the same quality GPS data available above, combined with real-world geodesic formulas and a whole heap of computing power to create this list. It's optimised to remove redundant duplicates (there's no point listing A to B and B to A). This saves computer time and disk space. (Try doing all this in Excel! Actually don't... it'll probably crash!)
The list is available in tab-separated form, easily imported into most data applications, or as an SQL script to be dumped straight into your database (e.g. MySQL). The 5+ million rows is about 80-120mb of data (uncompressed). Because we have removed duplicates, the lookups must be done with the lowest postcode first.
Purchasing this list provides you with a download link to access the data immediately. We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to plug the data into your website, database or application. If there's a different format you need, send us an email and we'll see what we can do.

While this provides an easy way to determine the distance between two postcodes, this GPS data alone can be made to provide that information with the right formulas. This distance data is necessary for computers to quickly find the postcodes nearby a given postcode, without having to do the calculations for all 5 or 10 million combinations Australia-wide.
